Jeddah Industrial City Water Re-use R.O. Ready

Jeddah, K.S.A.  :  26th,September 2005

WETICO / Saudi Berkefeld is proving its strength once again. In late January of this year the International water and wastewater treatment company was awarded the second phase of the Jeddah Industrial City Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The project is noted as the first project of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia based on two criteria. The first being that it is a BOOT project treating wastewater from an Industrial area and the second being the scale of the water re-use application.

Having completed phase one of the project in December 2004 to the satisfaction of the client, WETICO / Saudi Berkefled was pre-qualified for the second phase, and eventually awarded the contract for the turn key job.

The second phase of the project produces 8,000 m3/d of drinking quality water. Effluent from the wastewater treatment plant is passed through multimedia filters, and Ultra-Filtration submersible membranes before being treated through the Reverse Osmosis Units.

At present work is underway as per the project schedule with more than 60% of the work being completed. Currently, 75% of the Civil works along with 30% of the electromechanical works are ready on site. The multimedia filters have been delivered to site while the Reverse Osmosis skids being ready for shipping from our factory in Riyadh. The remaining works include the completion of the Reverse Osmosis building, roads, lighting, as well as electromechanical equipment installation.

We look forward to the successful completion of yet another project and we thank our clients for their continuous support.
