| Secondary Clarifier |
Mixture from
the aeration tank goes into the secondary
clarifier to complete the separation of liquid
and solid phase.
The separated water goes for final treatment
and discharge.
To ensure an efficient amount of biomass in
the system, it is important to keep a fixed
level of sludge in the clarifier .
The large part of the sludge is continuously
returned to the aeration tank RAS, the remaining
sludge is discontinuously discharged to thickener
WAS.
The ratio of RAS to WAS is controlled to maintain
the correct sludge quality
(usually called “aged sludge”). |
