Chamber Filter Press

Chamber filter presses achieve the separation of solids and water by forcing the water through cloth under pressure. In the initial period the flow is high and the pressure is low. Cloth quality, flow rates and pressurization define cake dryness. Cake removal and acid cleaning are cumbersome and require safe handling, more so when lime is used.

Belt Filter Press
It makes use of gravity and pressure to remove the water from the thickened sludge. Thickened sludge is deposited on a porous belt. The water content flows through the belt, increasing the dry solids content of the sludge.
No pressure is applied in the initial stage and only gravity provides some separation. Then the sludge is compressed between two belts and passes through
a series of rolls of decreasing diameter to raise the separation. This squeezes
more water from the mixture.
Polymers are used to increase retention of small particles.
